The City of Albuquerque established municipal library services in 1901. Currently our library system consists of a Main Library, 13 City branch libraries, three County branch libraries and a Book Van for a total of 18 service points. In 1986, the City entered into a Joint Powers Agreement with Bernalillo County to offer services at the three County funded branch libraries. Our service area includes 632,605 residents. Library operations are funded from the General Fund. All automation equipment and library materials are purchased with General Obligation Bond funds. The Albuquerque/Bernalillo County Library System ( ABC Libraries) is the largest, most comprehensive public library in New Mexico.
